Piaget archives confirm that the present watch was made as a special order for Asprey for the Sultan of Oman in 1985. Three pieces were made to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the Sultan’s accession in 1970 two were made in white gold and one in yellow gold. The archives also confirm that the watch is set with 222 diamonds with a total carat weight of 29.89 carats and 124 sapphires with a total weight of 8.48 carats. The price in 1985 was the then enormous sum of 204590 Swiss Francs.
