Every once in a while, you’ll see a watch that will make you go ‘whoah!’ and ask yourself, what brand is that and how much is it. Such should be the reaction you’ll get when you’re sporting the Xeriscope Orbital Mechanical Watch from Xeric Watches. Timepieces that showcase their innards and movements are always popular, but the Xeriscope does one better because the mechanism itself doubles as the time display. The watchface features a dual time zone display – the first being the movement itself (the ones with the gears and all) rotating once every 12 hours, plus another hour display on a subdial. There’s a dual-hand minute indicator as well, plus a power reserve indicator flanking it. Since the Xeriscope has an automatic movement, there’s no battery needed and all you have to do is wear the watch to keep it running. That’s probably all you’ll wanna do because of the sheer beauty and magnificence of the watch. This first project by Watchismo is so successful that they’ve demolished their target funding in Kickstarter. You’d have to hurry with your backing though as the limited-edition watches run out fast. We’re no strangers to openworked watches but those usually cost more than your house and car combined. The Xeriscope is different because it’s certainly affordable to the general public. $399.
