The Zenith Vintage 55 Watch is meant to evoke feelings of the past when watches were simple but finely built. It has a 40mm wide 18k rose gold case with matching hands and hour markers and only one Arabic numeral is used at 12 o’clock. Inside there is a thin (4mm thick) Zenith caliber 689 automatic in-house made movement and it’s COSC chronometer certified. The brown dial gives it a trendy and contemporary look but overall it boasts vintage appeal for those who like simple watches. Limited edition of 100 pieces. $TBA.

The Defy Xtreme 2009 collection by Zenith has a new member: the limited edition Tourbillon Zero-G. The pieces floating around in the dial is the tourbillon carriage in a free-moving gyroscopic-style housing which makes the watch capable of enduring extreme gravity conditions. The tourbillon always points downward because of the conical shaped regulator gears so that there is always optimal amplitude for the balance-wheel. Other features include a multi-layered dial consisting of Hesalite glass, carbon fiber and aluminum, a helium valve and protected crown. $500,000.

Last month we showed you the Zenith ‘Originals’ El Primero Moonphase that had much more of a vintage look. This particular watch shown above is the Zenith ‘Class’ El Primero and it’s a great example of the more conservative yet elegant watches that were introduced at Baselworld 2009. The watch has a full annual calendar with moonphase and chronograph and 4100 calibre movement. Two case sizes, 40mm and 44mm are available. The Class collection has clustered the complications toward the center of the face in order for the dial to be more legible in terms of telling time. $4,800.

The Swiss watchmaker, Zenith, is marking the 40th anniversary of their legendary ‘El Primero’ by unveiling a series of limited edition commemorative timepieces. El Primero is the world’s first and only mechanical chronograph caliber that can measure independent time to 1/10th of a second and it also has an ultra-rapid balance frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour. In the limit edition series, product lines such as Class, Port Royal, Chronomaster and Defy will be showcased. One distinctive highlight of the collection is the Zenith New Vintage 1969 “The Originals.” These models feature a distinctive case and design elements that bridge the gap between vintage and modern timepieces. $TBA.
