Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore. Wise words from Andre Gide and that has been the idea for explorers all over the world. The same goes for Amerigo Vespucci, whose three-masted ship is depicted at the caseback of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Blue Chronograph. The fantastic Overseas model now comes with a blue dial and a choice between stainless steel, leather or rubber straps. Chief feature of this new timepiece is its ability to repel magnets as powerful as 25,000 amperes per meter. Animated by a Caliber 1137 automatic movement, the watch features a classic three subdial layout with the prominent date complication by the 12 o’clock position. The Swiss movement has a total of 27 jewels with a 40 hour power reserve. The watch will be available first in the United States then the rest of the world in 2014. $TBD.
