This new horological piece by Romain Gauthier is the luxury of all luxury watches out there. It will be making its debut at BaselWorld 2010 and watch enthusiasts can’t wait to see it. Everything is assembled and polished by hand and the manually-wound, in-house made movement has a balance wheel with four inertia screws and regulating indicators, moving back and forth at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The distinctive crown is located under the movement and both the front and backsides of the watch case have glareproofed sapphire crystals. The case will be available in 18K pink gold, 18K white gold or 750 platinum. +$100,000.

Unless you’re a hardcore watch enthusiast you may not have heard of the German watchmaker, Temption. They are a good little company that blends modern design with classic Bauhaus elements. The Temption CGk204 has a 43mm wide case, column engraved siding and onyx cabochons in the crown and chronograph pushers. Inside there is a Valjoux 7751 automatic movement, 12 hour chronograph annual calendar (with day, date, and month) and a synchronized 24-hour hand and a moonphase indicator. The yellow trim on the hands and the strap stitching is a new touch they’ve added to the 2010 version. ~$3,000.

This new Octo Grand Sonnerie Tourbillon will be one of the high-end watches at BaselWorld 2010. It’s a sleek watch with retrograde hour dial and the minutes on a disc, four sub-dials on the face including power reserve indicators and chiming mechanism. The 18k white gold case is 43mm wide with an open caseback that reveals the ultra complex manually wound movement. Be prepared for an astronomical price. $TBA.

Nope, this watch has nothing to do with the heavy metal band but it’s still rockin.’ The Vestal ZR3002 ZR3 Black Sabbath is a gigantic watch with a case measuring 52mm wide and a black dial sporting Arabic numerals that grow in size. There are two sub-dials, a date display window between 4 and 5 o’clock and a little hand on top of the 6 o’clock. Other highlights include a solid mineral crystal, chronograph movement and water resistance up to 10ATM. $TBA.

Not sure as to why this watch would be considered ‘extreme’ but we do know that Alpina made a new move into the tourbillon world by introducing a regulator. This watch has a caliber AL-980 automatic tourbillon movement with a silicium lever and escapement wheel. Only 36 watches will be made which are available in two versions; 18 of which will have a brushed titanium case and a pink gold bezel and the other 18 will have a black ceramic bezel and a pink gold case. Other features include the large minute style hour markers and skeletonized ‘bubble baton’ hands in brushed steel that give the watch a sporty and contemporary look. $TBA.

The Engine One Tourbillon was made as a tribute to L.U.C’s 150th anniversary. The bold watch will make its debut at BaselWorld 2010 and Chopard enthusiasts can’t wait to see it. The Engine One Tourbillon is a distinctive watch with a hand-wound, manufactory-made L.U.C 1TRM tourbillon calibre movement, a power reserve meter sitting at the top, water resistance up to 50 meters and Arabic numerals that seem to float above the brushed titanium underneath. Would love to have some closer images of this watch to see all the detail but we’ll have to wait until BaselWorld. Only 150 pieces will be made. $TBA.

The Cruise Sport will make its debut at BaselWorld 2010. It’s a sophisticated and streamlined diver’s watch with a silicone strap and it’s available as a chronograph or three-hand style. Other features include water resistance up to 200 meters, tachymeter and re-designed bezel and dial rendered in 3D. Various colors are available. $TBA.
