Christian Jacques launched a collection of sports watches: the Virtus. It may be designed for action but this new timepiece is still extremely elegant, and I can’t imagine wearing it while going for a jog. The Virtus has a Valjoux 7750 caliber automatic chronograph and the 44mm wide case is made of black PVD 316L steel protected by an anti-reflective sapphire on both the front and back. The black dial has 12 embossed luminescent hour-markers which compliment the horns set with 0.4 ct of black diamonds. There are 12-hour, 60-minute and small seconds counters at 6, 12 and 9 o’clock respectively as well as day and date windows at 3 o’clock. Sold with a red-lined black leather strap or steel bracelet. $TBA.

Tokyoflash has done it again with an ultra-modern watch that reflects the time we live in. The Instant Trend can receive instant Twitter and Facebook notifications via Bluetooth. When set in the time mode the time is displayed in true Tokyoflash fashion through the use of blocks to represent hours, 10 minute intervals and single minutes. The messages are displayed on a bright OLED blue-on-black dot-matrix display. Like all Tokyoflash watches, the release it as a concept and those interested should go to the website to vote on whether to produce the watch or not. $TBA.

This new movment testifies to the fact that Cartier is a prestigious watchmaker that makes development and research a top priority. The embellished bezel is a nice contrast against the polished case and the dial is an elegant reinterpretation of Cartier ideals mixed with Roman inspiration. The transparent caseback is protected by a sapphire crystal and reveals the calibre 1904 MC. +$6,500.

In 25 years, the P6780 is only the second diving watch ever created by Porsche Design. The first diving watch was the Ocean Diver back in 1983. The P6780 is a unique watch with an adjustable 46.8mm wide case. Here’s how it works: the dial houses a cylindrical steel container which is connected to a titanium bridge via a hinge. Once the case is lifted the crown is revealed and the time can be reset. Inside there is an automatic ETA caliber 2892-A2 and it’s water resistant up to 1,000 meters. $TBA.
