The O.D.M. design studio is always pushing the limits on watch design. One of their designers, Michael Young, decided to push some buttons around so that the the watch face houses the controls and the time is dually displayed on the top and bottom of the case sides. What he ended up with is the Reverse Double Digital; a watch that is easy to use from any angle because those tiny buttons are no longer on the sides of the case. The water-resistant watches are made from matte plastic and feature UK designer Michael Young’s signature engraved (along with a serial number) on the back. Various colors are available. $120.

The San Franciso-based watchmaker, Xetum, makes eco-friendly watches with handmade vegetable-tanned leather straps and a renewable cork backing. The Stinson boasts a minimalist design with a modern touch. It has a Swiss automatic movement, easy-to-read dial and a date window at 3 o’clock. Various colors are available. $995.

The latest of AMVOX series by Jaeger Le-Coultre is the racing inspired AMVOX5 World Chronograph. It gets a total makeover with 24-hour time zone indicator, 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters and Jaeger’s automatic 752 caliber. This will be a limited edition watch that is set to run ceramic, titanium and 18-carat pink gold versions. No news on price but it’s going to be a big one. $TBA.

Golf watch enthusiasts will be taking full swing for the Cimier Birdie. It’s a superb timepiece with a 44mm wide stainless steel case, quartz movement, golf-ball pattern dial and an Acqua waterproof leather strap. I like the symmetry created by only having the two numerals at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock and the simple date window at 5 o’clock is a nice touch. Supposedly there’s some sort of secret on the caseback but we’re not sure what that secret is. Darn. $TBA.

The Rocky II series by Ernest Borel packs a punch. It’s boasts a sporty design yet it’s masculine and dignified. Features include a yellow dial, useful complications such as large date, retrograde days and small seconds, subdial at 6 o’clcok, 42 mm satin-finished stainless steel case with anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a 7004N quartz movement. The two-toned strap is a red-lined black polyurethane or you can purchase it with a stainless steel bracelet. $597.

The handsome watch you see here is the 2010 model for the Marine collection by Breguet. The aquatic blue-colored Roman numerals and hands are a real stand-out against the white gold dial making it easy to read and also it’s just nice to look at. The case is made of 18-carat white gold, it has an automatic movement, alarm, an alarm power reserve indication aperture between 9 and 11 o’clock, date, luminous hands, a saphhire crystal caseback and water resistance up to 300 meters. Also available in white gold with black dial, rose gold with black dial, and rose gold with rose gold dial. ~$35,000-$45,000.

The Radiomir Regatta by Panerai is a limited edition watch to be released in conjunction with the 6th edition of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. Yachtsmen will appreciate the split-seconds chronograph with a 1/8th second foudroyante function and an express scale in knots for the calculation of the average speed of the vessel. Other features include a 47mm brushed titanium case, Panerai OP XXI caliber automatic movement, water resistance up to 100 meters and a leather strap. During the Yacht Challenge be sure to check out the debut of the Eilean; a Bermudan ketch built in 1936 in the legendary Scottish Fife boatyards. Only 500 timepieces will be made. $TBA.
