No other football player is quite as revered and respected as Edson Arantes do Nascimento, or more affectionately known as Pele. The only player ever to win three World Cup titles, Pele is worshipped in Brazil and admired across the planet. With the 2014 World Cup in Rio de Janeiro just around the corner and Hublot being the official timing partner, this watch is just a fitting tribute. The Classic Fusion Aero Chronograph carries the name ‘Pele’ and it’s a thing of beauty. Starting with the black motif, the timepiece features an openworked watchface with yellow accents. This is no doubt an homage to the Brazilian national team’s jersey color and one of the dominant shades on the Brazilian flag. The subdial by the 3 o’clock is also a silhouette of a soccer ball, which also translates to the pattern on the leather bracelet. Flip the watch over and you’ll see Pele delivering his trademark bicycle kick over the Classic Fusion’s rotor. Housed in a 45mm ceramic case, the watch carries a self-winding skeleton chronograph movement. Beautiful watch named after a tremendously talented player and a passionate human being – you really can’t go wrong with this sample. Only problem is the rarity, as only 500 pieces will be made available worldwide. ~$15,300.
